Preparing for your test can be a nerve wracking and stressful time for both the leaner driver and their supervisor/parents. It's best to be well prepared before you sit for your test. Here are some key points to remember.
- Make sure your log book is fully completed and your supervisor has signed all the learning goal pages in the front of the book and the Declaration in the back of the book
- When adding up your hours make sure you have 100 day hours and 20 night hours. Check that the night hours are in fact after sunset. One common mistake people make is to put 6pm down as a night drive during daylight savings
- If using your own car for the test, make sure your tyres are legal (if unsure call into a tyre shop and ask) Pay particular attention to the front left tyre as they wear our really fast because of all the roundabouts we go through. Also check your brake lights and indicators.
- If you plan to use your instructors car for the test make sure they are available before you book.
- Familiarise yourself with the general test area, and also the test centre itself. Newcastle, Wallsend and Warners Bay all have dedicated parking for test vehicles
On test day try not to stress. It is really a simple process and not designed to be difficult. The testing officers are all nice friendly people.
Get a good nights sleep the night before and have something to eat before you go to the test.
Above all, relax and treat it like a drive with Mum or Dad
Remember most people pass first go if they are well trained and well prepared
Good Luck
