Choosing a Driving Instructor

Choosing a Driving Instructor

Now this is an interesting topic.

Parents often struggle with how they are travelling in their teaching, and worry that they are floundering about trying to do their best but with little guidance.

One of the first things I hear from parents is, “I’m getting lessons for my son/daughter to make sure I am not teaching them my bad habits.  This is the farthest from the truth.  Think about it for a minute.  You have had your licence for maybe 20 years give or take, and when you got your licence the rules were very different from today.  Some of you may have had only to drive around the block for the country Cop and that was it.  So, in reality the issue isn’t your bad habits, but more likely you just don’t know the current road rules, and current testing standards.

So, what to do about it?

Check out www.rms..nsw.gov.au for free downloads and helpful information.  I also have links on my website www.jddrivertraining.com.au to these training tools.

Also www.keys2drive.com.au is a great Government program that provides a free, informative session aimed to help parents get started on this journey.

Nothing beats one on one training.  Whether you choose to engage a driving instructor at the beginning, middle or end of your child’s learning curve, the most important thing is to make sure that you choose a driving instructor that not only delivers results, but more importantly  your child is comfortable with.

Good Luck
